Community support helps abandoned horses recover

The woman who took in four horses abandoned near Silver Lake last month says the horses are on the mend and she's been overwhelmed by the community support.
Four horses were found abandoned near the wild horse herd on Weyerhaeuser Co. property in early December. Officials believe financially strapped owners thought the herd would absorb the horses. Wild herds are likely to harm or even kill domesticated horses, though, and one of the recovered animals was emaciated after struggling to find food.
