REDLANDS - A lecture exploring Ice Age horses of the American West is planned for 2 p.m. Sunday at the San Bernardino County Museum, 2024 N. Orange Tree Lane.
The museum's curator of paleontology, Eric Scott, will present a discussion that will explore what he calls "a true American icon."
"Not only are they common in the American West today, but they have a history here that goes back tens of millions of years," he said. "Despite what you may have learned about Spanish explorers' bringing these animals to America, horses are actually American natives."
Sunday's lecture is part of the museum's year-round series that helps the museum encourage public learning about the county's cultural and natural history, said Jennifer Reynolds, media specialist for the county museum.
