Viewfinder: Cavalia Horses Trot in for Puget Sound Area Engagement

A small group of media representatives and horse enthusiasts had the chance Thursday to meet some of the four-legged stars of Cavalia, a large-scale horse show that will premiere at Marymoor Park next Wednesday.

The show includes 46 horses representing 11 different breeds from France, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, Canada and the U.S. They arrived in semi-truck-sized trailers that had traveled from Sherwood, Ore., where the horses enjoyed a two-week "vacation" after Cavalia's run in Portland.

At Marymoor, the horses were led into their stables under Cavalia's big white tents. Fairland Ferguson, a trick rider from South Carolina, said all the horses are taken outside for a minimum of one-hour each day, and Cavlia representatives create special outdoor space at each performance location to make this possible. 1. Does anyone understand the mental stress these Cavalia horses go through??? They are horses..and not bred to be circus performers under tents and bright lights..day and night.
If anyone really understood horses you would watch the body language of the horses performing..especially the trick horses...
I have a ex-Cavalia gelding..believe me mentally he has been damaged. It's very sad that no one can see this!

  2. I know!! I have been trying to find some info on people protesting about this show and have found nothing. I can`t believe it. Shows with animals ARE cruel. Can you please send me an email? marinacastilla@live.ca (Marina)

  3. Seriously these horses are treated like kings. I would love to see the bill of sale on your supposed damaged horse. honestly I don't believe a word of your poppy cock about owning one of their retired horses. Obviously you don't understand the fact they keep the horses in a relatively natural state when showing. Not to mention the impeccable care these horses have. So is taking horses to competition abuse? Is riding them abuse? Get a grip. The show is promoting horses in a natural state and showing the relationship between horse and rider. You protesters are sickening.

  4. I can't say I know any of these horses personally, but considering everything they do is done "liberty" style, and NO ONE can make a 1000# animal do ANYTHING they don't want to do, especially if there is no bit, bridle, halter, reins, saddle..... you get the point. I would love to see them perform and judge for myself. You can tell when a horse is upset or mistreated. This certainly a huge move away from competition horse shows and rodeos. Now THOSE are cruel.

I used to ride liberty when I was a teenager and my mare LOVED IT!! There is nothing like it, and you NEVER feel more "one" with your horse than riding this way.
